Crescent City street view

Title

Crescent City street view

Description

The photographs document the 1964 tsunami in Crescent City, CA. and can be paired with personal narratives such as Peggy Sullivan's.

"The water was so swift that I couldn't hold on to my son [Gary, 9], and he was swept away. I fell with the baby [Yevonne, 2] in my arms. We went in twice...I reached up, grabbed the door handle...I was screaming for help. I just knew my son was gone." Peggy Sullivan was six months pregnant at the time. Peggy and her children survived.
